Fortune Favors The Bold
On October 3, 2005, there was an eclipse at the same exact place of 10º of Libra exactly 19 years ago this week. This Sun, the Moon and the South Node have returned at the very same spot of the sky, illuminating the same part of your chart stirring up the same themes. Libra is the sign of contracts, the sign that rules partnerships, relationships, bonds with other people, organizations and entities. Venus is the ruler of Libra and so in the current space we are somehow concerned with and focused on relationships and contracts. Libra is also the sign of all the things that accompany contracts: fairness, balance, justice and harmony. I heard someone say the other day that the size of a contract is equal to the size of the expansion we crave. There is a part of us that is always growing and expanding seeking out the conditions, people, places and events that will help us provide the size of the growth we want to experience.
The cyclical nature of eclipses and the way they return to the same position every 19 years is a new opportunity for us to take on a new journey that will define our growth and expansion in some way during the next 19 years. Like the double sided helix of a DNA holding the biological instructions for the potential of a being ready to manifest, the last 19 years held the journeyes upward to the next level of this DNA molecule allowing us to express ourselves on a new level.
Let’s say nineteen years ago had the desire to build a family, have kids, buy a house and go on family vacations. To do this you needed to sign a contract with a partner that agreed to join you and help you in the building of this journey. Libra is the sign that rules relationships, partnerships, contracts and even further: equality, justice, balance and all that it takes to build and maintain a contract with another entity. A contract will have terms and conditions, a few spoken and some unspoken rules that had to be added to it as you were going along and encountering life. Tomorrow you will have the same potential to sign a new contract, revise an old contract or sign a newly agreed upon amendment to the same contract that will allow the kind of expansion you are now seeking for the next cycle.
This journey of expansion does not have to be a material one that you necessarily see out in the world. It could have been a very quiet and internal journey where we expanded our consciousness to accommodate a whole new person than the one we were in October 2005. We make all kinds of agreements with ourselves to do something, be someone and accomplish something. These agreements are just a important and valid as the ones we sign on paper with ink.
This cycle has the theme of partnerships and relationships as well as the theme of self-assertion vs collaboration and compromise. The sun is considered fallen in the sign of Libra for the very same reason Libras are always the ones seeking compromise in the name of bonds and relationships instead of asserting their own will. This moment has to do with relationships and our ability to assert our wishes in the the terms and conditions of a new contract that honors our desires and plans but at the same time ensures the cohesion with those that matter to us.

There’s few more similarities between that eclipse from October 2005 and the one we see this month and it has to do with Mars and Venus being both in a weakened position by occupying part of the sky they do not find comfortable in. Something about this moment feels uncomfortable almost as if we feel cornered to sign this new contract same as we may have felt nineteen years ago. Venus is in Scorpio, the sign antithetical of her home and Mars is now in Cancer, the sign of its fall. Back in 2005 Mars was in Taurus, the place of its detriment. I find these moments when a planet is in a place that lacks favor the opportunity for human will to shine. Us humans often forget that one of the greatest perks of being alive on earth is our free will and ability to decide how we create and build our lives. There is time and place for surrender but that time is not now. We are currently given the opportunity to assert our will in how we go forward. Now is the time for us to decide, and for the Libra part of our charts this feels very uncomfortable because remember, Libras are not about self assertion, but compromise and yielding to something or someone else. It’s important to remember now, as the sun in Libra is not only fallen but it is also getting eclipsed, we have an opportunity to align our human will with the feminine principles in this world: softness, receptivity and surrender. Where in your life are you being beckoned to invite more softness, make more room and wilfully welcome new things that are seeding the materials for us to build the next distance of our expansion? This solar eclipse is one big powerful new moon that drops a new seed in the part of our chart that will take root and grow in the next 19 years.
